You may also like to attend a workshop so that you can undergo treatments under professional supervision.

Important Tips
- Do not ever use hard or painful pressure. Hard pressure can feel good, but gentle movements are the safest and most effective in the long term.
- Don’t ever directly massage on bones, and never massage areas that have been fractured.
- Don’t massage the abdominal area of anyone with stomach problems or who is pregnant.
- Don’t massage areas that are infected or injured.
- Do not ever try to “crack” anyone’s back. Leave this to a qualified professional.
- Do not massage anyone that has or who may have blood clots.
- Be very careful when massaging anyone with special medical or health issues. Those with special medical issues should receive massage from a qualified massage therapist.

Aromatherapy oils can be used to create a relaxing and restorative atmosphere in your home. Here are some tips to help you blend aromatherapy oils:
- Start by selecting the essential oils you want to blend. Different oils have different therapeutic effects, so it’s important to choose oils that will work together.
- Once you have selected your essential oils, it’s time to blend them. To do this, add a few drops of each oil to a bottle and shake it gently to mix the oils together.
- If you want to make a larger blend, you can add the same oils to a larger container and mix them together. You can also add a carrier oil, like jojoba or coconut oil, to create a blend that is easier to apply to the skin.
- Once you have blended your oils, you should let them sit for at least a few hours before using them. This will give the oils time to fully combine and create a balanced scent.
- Lastly, always be sure to store your blended oils in a cool, dark place to ensure the best quality.

Using Hot Stones for massage
There are two ways to use stones in a Hot Stone Massage. The first way is to use them as placement stones to warm the muscles.
This brings the client's attention to the warmed body part, and has a calming effect on their mind. Tension is melted away with the liquid heat sensation from the warmed stones.
The second way to use stones in a Hot Stone Massage is to massage the clients with them.
Precautions
There are precautions to take when using hot stones on bare skin. People have been burned by stones that were applied to the skin when they were too hot, and there is a risk of infection if you use unwashed stones on a person who has a sore or a break in their skin. Below are some videos to use as a guideline alongside your course material. To purchase the stones, heaters and equipment you can use the following links:
Working with Cancer Patients
Cancer patients experience a depleted immune system (low white blood count), which leaves them susceptible to infection. The therapist should be in good health and not have a sore throat, cold or the flu. With a weakened immune system, extra caution must be taken for cleanliness by keeping the massage area free from germs. It is recommended to wash the massage stones and change the water after every client. In this situation, an extra step may be warranted: Spray the stones before placing them in the massage stone heater with a disinfectant like Pure Green 24, which is a natural product that kills almost all germs. This extra step will give the therapist the satisfaction that the massage stones are clean.
The temperature of the stones is another important consideration. Patients exposed to chemo and radiation may have peripheral neuropathy, which may either leave them unable to feel temperature or be extremely sensitive to temperature, particularly cold. In general, the chemo depletes the red blood cell count, leaving the patient anemic, which may make them intolerant to cold temperatures. The warmth from the massage stones is comforting and nurturing at a time when the patient needs it the most. The therapist should avoid using hot stones; it is best to modify the temperature to a more medium range, perhaps around 125 degrees Fahrenheit. Cold marble stones would not be indicated for this type of massage.

Where to place Hot Stones
When offering a hot stone massage have your client lie face down on a table or bed. They should be naked or wearing thin undergarments. Cover them with a clean sheet or towel for modesty and to keep them from getting cold.
step 1
Place warm stones at the top of the left leg, in the center of the thigh, behind the knee and on the calf. Massage the right leg while the stones sit. A little massage oil will help your hands move more smoothly over the skin.
Step 2
Take the biggest massage stone from the person’s left leg and slide it up his right leg, from his heel to his bottom.
Step 3
Place warm stones on his right leg, just as you did on his left. Let them sit for 2 to 3 minutes and then massage that leg, finishing with the largest stone, and the gliding technique.
Step 4
Put one large stone on each side of his buttocks. Let them sit, and then gently massage the muscles, finishing with a large stone.
Step 5Put warm stones on his neck, shoulders and lower back. Let them sit for 2 to 3 minutes and then massage the large muscles of his back, finishing with the largest stone. Have your subject turn over, and do his front side the same way you did his back.

- Massage your subject’s arms with your bare hands, or with a gliding stone, because warm stones usually won’t stay put on someone’s arms.
